Who owns my data and my Brain?

How ELEV8 separates customer-owned durable truth from ELEV8's Brain standard and the replaceable technology used to operate it.

The short answer

The durable truth in a Personal Brain belongs to the person. Company Brain truth belongs to and is governed by the company.

ELEV8 owns the Brain standard, schemas, architecture, generic capabilities, and platform contracts around that truth—not the customer's or company's durable knowledge itself.

The design goal is customer-owned truth with ELEV8-managed intelligence around it.

The truth belongs to the scope it comes from.

Personal Brain knowledge is person-owned. Company Brain knowledge is company-owned and company-governed.

That distinction matters when one person participates in multiple organizations. A single Executive Partner can work across authorized scopes without turning those separate bodies of truth into one shared database.

Executive Partner

Routes authorized context. Does not merge ownership.

Personal Brain

Person-owned durable truth

Company Brain A

Company-owned / company-governed truth

Company Brain B

Separate company truth boundary

One Executive Partner can enter authorized scopes while the underlying Personal and Company truth remains separately owned and governed.

So what does ELEV8 own?

ELEV8 owns the generic Brain standard: the architecture, schemas, conventions, platform contracts, and reusable technology needed to operate a governed knowledge system.

That is different from owning the customer's notes, decisions, company knowledge, relationships, documents, policies, or other durable truth.

And what about the technology providers?

Different parts of the Brain may use files, databases, search indexes, embeddings, runtime memory, knowledge applications, or other providers.

Those technologies are implementation components. ELEV8's direction is to keep the customer's durable truth from becoming dependent on one replaceable provider wherever practical.

Does ELEV8 staff have standing access to my Brain?

The current ELEV8 Brain doctrine is no standing ELEV8 human access to customer Brain content.

Where human support, recovery, or elevated access is legitimately required, the broader ELEV8 operating model is designed around deliberate authority, least privilege, auditability, and temporary elevation rather than casual permanent access.

Connected does not mean merged.

A system can be connected to ELEV8 without becoming part of one central ELEV8-owned data pool.

A Personal Brain can remain separate from a Company Brain. Company A can remain separate from Company B. Appropriate context can be routed when authorized without collapsing ownership boundaries.

Ownership only matters if it survives an exit.

That is why portability, export, deletion, backup, provider replacement, and recovery are part of the Brain architecture rather than afterthoughts.

The exact handoff mechanics depend on the asset and agreement, but the architectural objective is that customer-owned truth remains recoverable and useful outside the ELEV8 relationship.
